Business of the Month February 2016
Petrone Associates, Inc.
What is a Hamiltonian? Well, Joyce Cantalice, a Financial Specialist with Petrone Associates, Inc., feels that she is a true Hamiltonian. She moved to Hamilton the summer before freshman year of High School and other than a few short years, she has lived in Hamilton ever since. According to Joyce, when it came time to decide where to build the family home and raise her children, Hamilton was the obvious choice.
That was 2002 and Joyce says that she and her kids wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. We live in a great community with virtually everything we need. The downside was, “work always took me away from my home base and quite honestly, I didn’t like it. So in 2014, I decided to take the plunge and not only move my business local but entrench myself in all that is Hamilton.”
Since then she has been hard at work developing a local client base. As part of Petrone Associates, a Princeton based financial services firm, Joyce enjoys an office in Princeton and in Hamilton. As a Financial Specialist, “I work with individuals, families, and businesses to help them with their overall financial objective; whether its 401k planning, investing, saving for college, or protection, I am here to help.” My goal with a client is to develop a lifelong relationship and become someone who they trust to help them through the twists and turns that life often brings our way.
As part of her core business plan, Joyce started attending local networking meetings and in October of 2014, Sue Haws, a friend and owner of Kucker Haney Paint, invited Joyce to a group called “Shop Hamilton.” After that meeting, “I felt like I hit the jackpot.” I met people who own businesses in Hamilton, are involved in our community, and who are, simply put, just great people!
Joyce started attending meetings regularly and volunteered to be the Secretary. “As I became more involved, I was thoroughly enjoying all things local.” In August of 2015, Joyce was asked to be the Chairperson and she accepted “without hesitation.” Since August the group has grown 40% in membership and launched their 1st Annual Business Impact Dinner. According to Joyce the recent successes in Shop Hamilton are based on the core principle of reaching out to the community to help and to be of service first. “We are working together to understand our community, meet needs in our community, and grow our businesses on a platform that stands together.”
The goal this year is to help the residents of Hamilton understand that shopping local goes much further than a retail establishment. We shop for everything including doctors, lawyers, printers, computer experts, and much more. By using local services and retailers, more dollars are kept in our community which benefits everyone. That’s just one of the great reasons to keep it local.
Joyce has really entrenched herself in plenty of Hamilton. She launched a women’s networking group that meets monthly at the Atrium located on the Robert Wood Johnson Campus. The local Hamilton Chapter is part of Professional Women’s Business Networking with a unique platform that offers women an opportunity to share concepts and ideas for improving business. In addition, she sits on the Gala Committee for Robert Wood Johnson’s annual fundraising event and is a proud Rotarian of the Hamilton Chapter of Rotary.
And, as if all of that is not enough, Joyce has two “great” kids, Zachary 16 and Isabella 14. She says “being a parent is the best thing that I do! I am loving life, community and business in Hamilton. It’s what it’s all about!”
